On January 1, 2025, Austria introduced a deposit system for single-use beverage containers made of plastic and metal. This affects approximately 2.4 billion PET bottles and beverage cans in Austria annually, for which a deposit of 25 cents per container is charged upon sale. To fulfill this legal mandate, the EWP Recycling Pfand Österreich gGmbH was founded in 2023 by the retail and industrial sectors as the central organization.

As the central organization, we launched a consumer-friendly and efficient single-use deposit system for beverage containers on January 1, 2025, to sustainably close the material loop for beverage container reuse and reduce the littering of empty beverage containers in nature. As a student assistant in the IT sector, we are looking for a:

Working Student System Engineer (m/f/d)

Part-time from 20 hours/week

Your tasks:

• Implementation and further development of the system landscape with a focus on Microsoft Azure
• Administration and ongoing operation of core systems, as well as handling the issuance and return of office equipment in close cooperation with our external partner
• Solicitation of quotes and management of external partners in project work as well as in daily operations
• Coordination regarding the fixing of security incidents and vulnerabilities
• Collaboration with IT security, application, and DevOps teams
• Participation in the conception of technical solutions and effort estimations for implementation

Your profile:

• Education (apprenticeship, HTL, or ongoing studies) in computer science, IT infrastructure, or a comparable field
• Knowledge of common security standards and best practices in connection with GDPR, etc.
• Enjoyment in trying out new technologies and applications (e.g., from the open-source world)
• Basic knowledge of service management frameworks, e.g., ITIL
• You are fluent in English
• Team player with strong social skills and a passion for proactive, independent work
