Senior Developer – DevOps, CI/CD & Java (m/f/d)

At JAASPER, you’ll work hands-on on an AI platform that combines SaaS and on-prem, relies exclusively on open source, and successfully implements AI on-prem and on-device in sensitive areas. Together with our development team (UI, AI, Backend), you’ll shape DevOps, CI/CD, and backend development—with the perspective of taking on team leadership responsibilities in the medium term.

Role

As a Senior Developer, you are a hands-on, execution-driven personality at the heart of our development. You work closely with our development team (UI, AI, Backend) and take responsibility for DevOps, CI/CD, and backend development in Java. You help shape how we deliver cleanly, automatically, and securely—across SaaS and on-prem deployments.

The team is set to grow to 10+ developers by 2027. If you’re interested, there’s a clear perspective for you to develop into a team lead in the medium term.

Responsibilities

• Build, operate, and further develop CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins)
• Backend development in Java and co-design of a scalable application
• Containerization with Docker/Docker Compose; orchestration and scaling (Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, Nomad, or similar)
• Server administration and management (Linux)
• Monitoring & Observability (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, ELK Stack)
• SaaS and on-prem deployments, including backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability concepts
• Networking fundamentals (DNS, TLS, reverse proxies, firewalls)
• Contribution to security topics: vulnerability and patch management, security hardening of servers, containers, and applications (CIS Benchmarks) via code, secrets management, logging, and audit trails
• Responsible use of AI-assisted coding—we utilize commercial and open-source tools as well as on-device AI

• Minimum salary of EUR 3,954.00 gross/month according to the IT collective agreement—higher pay possible depending on qualifications and experience

Requirements

Experience

• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience as a developer with a focus on DevOps and backend
• Experience in scale-ups or larger companies is an advantage
• Experience with ISO 27001 is a plus but not mandatory
• Experience with secure on-prem deployments is an advantage

Qualifications

• Solid knowledge in DevOps, CI/CD, and backend development (Java)
• Experience in building and operating scalable applications
• Hands-on mentality, including on security topics: You can write and adapt code yourself to improve system security
• Independent, structured way of working
• Passion for clean infrastructure, automation (including automated testing), and security best practices
• Intrinsically motivated personality with a high willingness to learn
• Experience with AI-assisted coding is required (commercial and open-source tools)
• Nice to have: Scripting skills (Bash, Python, Go), Java frameworks (Spring Boot, Maven/Gradle), certifications & training (e.g., ISO/IEC 27001 Foundation)
• Residence in Austria (for insurance reasons)
• Work permit for Austria
• Very good English skills; company language is German
• Criminal record certificate required

Education

• Completed education in IT (HTL, university of applied sciences, university) or comparable qualification acquired through professional experience
