As part of our expert team in IT and Organisation (ITO), you will ensure a stable IT infrastructure, handle system administration and architecture, as well as capacity planning in the field of HPC infrastructure.

Your responsibilities:

  • Operation, administration, and continuous further development of the HPC infrastructure (compute, login, management, and storage systems)
  • Ensuring high availability, performance, operational safety, and IT security of the HPC environment, including patch and vulnerability management
  • Installation, configuration, maintenance, and updating of Linux-based servers, operating systems, HPC components, software packages, and scientific applications
  • Administration and optimization of cluster, network, and storage infrastructure (Slurm, InfiniBand, Ethernet, Lustre, BeeGFS)
  • Planning and execution of maintenance work, upgrades, migrations, as well as infrastructure and capacity expansions
  • Monitoring of the system landscape using monitoring and logging solutions, as well as analysis and troubleshooting of faults
  • Supporting users in 2nd-/3rd-level support and collaborating with internal departments, manufacturers, and external service providers
  • As an interface between our ITO team and other Competence Units as well as the AI team, you will have the opportunity to work on cross-departmental projects and contribute significantly to their success.
  • Through your ongoing commitment and reliability, you will play a key role in maintaining the system landscape.
  • You will develop innovative ideas and concepts within the framework of the strategic ITO goals.

As an Ingenious Partner, you stand out due to:

  • Completed education or degree in computer science, information technology, or a comparable qualification
  • Several years of experience in the administration of Linux servers (preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Rocky Linux, or Ubuntu)
  • Experience in operating HPC or cluster infrastructures
  • Knowledge in the areas of: Linux system administration, shell scripting (Bash), Python, or comparable scripting languages
  • Network technologies (TCP/IP, VLAN, InfiniBand)
  • Storage systems (SAN, NAS, parallel file systems)
  • Virtualization and container technologies (Docker, Apptainer/Singularity)
  • Experience with job scheduling systems such as Slurm is an advantage
  • Knowledge in the area of automation (Ansible, Git) is desirable
  • Basic knowledge in IT security
  • Excellent team and communication skills
  • Very good German and English skills, both written and spoken

What you can expect:

  • The gross annual salary for full-time employment (38.5 hours per week) according to the collective agreement is EUR 56,784. The actual salary will be individually determined based on your qualifications and experience.
