We are looking for vehicle preparation staff for the Innsbruck and Wörgl areas, with a training course starting in 2026.

Your tasks – exciting and varied:

  • Over nine weeks, you will be taught all key content on technology, safety equipment and applicable regulations in a practical manner. This will create a solid foundation for your future career.
  • With responsibility and technical intuition, you will carry out vehicle checks to ensure every vehicle is ready for service.
  • When moving, coupling and operating switches, turntables and depot gates, you will see how important teamwork and precision are.
  • Refuelling and equipping vehicles with all necessary operating materials and inventory items is also part of your work.
  • After appropriate qualification, there is the opportunity to advance to positions such as vehicle coordinator, signal box operator or train driver at the depot.

What you bring – our expectations:

  • At the start of the course, you must be at least 19 years old and have completed compulsory education.
  • Further completed school or vocational training (e.g. apprenticeship, vocational matriculation exam or technical school) is an advantage.
  • Enjoyment of working outdoors – in sun, wind and rain – as well as physical fitness are important prerequisites for your work.
  • Shift work, including weekends, public holidays and night shifts, can be easily reconciled with your personal daily life and environment.
  • You have already completed military or alternative civilian service or are exempt from it.

What we offer – a compelling package:

  • We offer extensive further training opportunities and numerous benefits for ÖBB employees.
  • For the role of "Vehicle Preparation and Shunting Trainee", a minimum salary of €38,351.88 gross/year is provided. After completing the training and in the role of "Vehicle Preparation and Shunting Staff", the salary is at least €38,351.88 gross/year, with an above-collective agreement remuneration of at least €40,161.24 gross/year.
  • Targeted further training modules open up the opportunity for you – with completed (vocational) training as well as medical and psychological suitability – to take on responsible positions, such as shunting supervisor, vehicle coordinator or traction unit driver, and receive appropriate remuneration for this.
  • 38.5-hour week with payment for overtime worked.
  • Higher remuneration for night work: +25% per hour.
