We are looking for a dedicated and experienced professional to join our Cyber Security – Identify & Protect (I&P) team as a Security Architect. In this role, you will play a key part in shaping the security architecture of ÖBB, ensuring that security-related requirements are integrated into our IT landscape in a holistic, sustainable, and feasible manner. A special focus lies on Privileged Access Management (PAM): You will act as the central point of contact for this field, drive its architectural advancement, and collaborate closely with Cyber Security Engineering, Solution Architects, as well as ÖBB’s infrastructure and platform teams.

Your role, you will...

  • develop and be responsible for the overarching security architecture for the ÖBB Group – from strategic planning to technical detailed design – from the perspective of the central service provider.
  • create architectural concepts, decision-making foundations, blueprints, and justifications for security-relevant topics with a special focus on Privileged Access Management (PAM).
  • serve as the central point of contact for PAM and advise internal stakeholders on architectural, technical, and organizational questions regarding privileged access.
  • evaluate solution and architecture proposals in terms of security impacts, regulatory requirements, dependencies, and sustainable feasibility.
  • shape the further development of the PAM target architecture and support the integration of corresponding solutions into existing IT and security architectures.
  • coordinate closely with adjacent architecture, operations, and cyber security teams and incorporate security aspects into decision-making and governance processes.
  • accompany projects from the concept phase to go-live, ensuring that security requirements are considered from the outset (Security by Design).
  • support the definition of security standards, guidelines, and procedural instructions – particularly in the context of privileged accounts, access, and administrative permissions.
  • conduct architecture reviews and security assessments and derive concrete measures and improvements in collaboration with IS risk management.
  • monitor technological developments and best practices in the field of security architecture and PAM, and evaluate their benefits for ÖBB.

Your profile, you...

  • have completed higher education (IT Security, Computer Science, or Business Informatics with a focus on IT Security) or possess comparable professional experience in the IT security environment.
  • bring in-depth knowledge of IT architecture, cyber security, identity & access management, or related security domains.
  • have experience in designing, evaluating, or advancing security architectures in complex IT environments.
  • ideally have practical knowledge in Privileged Access Management, such as privileged accounts, session management, password vaults, least-privilege principles, or protecting administrative access.
  • have experience in developing concepts, decision-making foundations, or architecture documentation.
  • are accustomed to being the technical point of contact for stakeholders and translating complex requirements into viable security solutions.
  • are familiar with hybrid IT architectures and ideally with cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and understand the associated security challenges.
  • ideally hold recognized certifications such as CISSP, CISM, PAM software certifications, or comparable qualifications.
