We are responsible for the availability, security, and economic operation of telecom networks as well as command, control, and telematics systems within the Railway Systems business unit.

 In the Core Networks department, the focus lies on the stable operation of central networks – complemented by targeted automation to further enhance quality, efficiency, and future readiness.

Your job, you..

  • ensure the stable operation of network and security environments in 2nd-level support.
  • administer, operate, and expand complex network and security infrastructures, particularly in the Cisco environment with NSO (Cisco Network Services Orchestrator).
  • actively participate in incident, problem, and change management and ensure sustainable solutions instead of short-term workarounds.
  • analyze faults in complex operational environments and initiate targeted technical improvements.
  • contribute to the design, implementation, and optimization of network solutions (routing, switching, firewall, WLAN, etc.).
  • automate network, infrastructure, and operational processes (e.g., deployments, configuration, and routine tasks) using DevOps and DevSecOps approaches.
  • further develop monitoring, logging, and alerting mechanisms and actively use them for operational purposes.
  • conduct log analyses (network, endpoint, and application level) for fault and root cause analysis.
  • collaborate closely across disciplines with adjacent units such as SOC, development, as well as first and third-level support.
  • are responsible for warehouse activities related to network components (shipping and receiving components within Austria).
  • maintain and update the technical documentation in the respective management systems.
  • participate in nationwide on-call duty (remote) as required.

Your Profile

  • A completed IT education (HTL, technical college, university of applied sciences, university) or several years of experience in the operation of network and IT infrastructures.
  • Solid knowledge in routing & switching, firewall, and/or WLAN technologies.
  • Experience in troubleshooting network and security systems in production environments.
  • Sound expertise in Linux administration.
  • An interest in automating operational processes and initial practical experience with scripting or automation tools (e.g., Python, Bash, Ansible, APIs, CI/CD).
  • You have experience with container or Kubernetes environments (e.g., Ingress, cert-manager, operators) from an operational perspective.
  • IT security basics (hardening, patch and vulnerability management) are a matter of course for you.
  • You work in a structured manner, analyze problems systematically, and maintain an overview even in stressful situations.
  • Teamwork and professional communication are second nature to you.
  • Excellent German and good English skills.

 The following are advantageous:

  • Manufacturer knowledge and certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNP / CCIE, HPE Aruba, Fortinet, Check Point).
  • Experience with DevOps or DevSecOps methods in an operational environment.
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting systems.
